Over the past several months, since March 5th 2014 to be exact, I've gotten familiar with our customers old and new. I've gotten to know some of our neighboring business owners too.  I enjoy seeing our regulars as well as meeting brand new ones daily.  The one thing I hear most often is that they always return for 2 reasons. First, they actually get a tan! Good news for us. Second, they love the friendly smile behind the desk. No high pressure sales, reasonable prices and more amenities offered here than any other tanning salon nearby.

When my husband and I decided to purchase this 13 year old tanning salon, we knew it was in a great location. We knew that there was a large foundation of past and present customers to draw from.  We also knew that we wanted to make it our "own".   Part of making it our "own" meant creating a brand that couldn't be found anywhere else. Our personality. Our dream. Our business that we could be proud to put our name on.

It's been a great first year getting our feet wet and learning what could work and what will never work.  We are grateful to our supportive loyal customers who really want us to succeed and appreciate our hard work to make this little tanning salon the "general store" of tanning in Gulf Gate.

What is most important to us is creating long lasting relationships with our customers by treating them the way we would want to be treated. Endless Summer Tan Sarasota  is about to start offering pampering manicures, pedicures and fiberglass wrap nail enhancements from Backscratchers.   We are no longer just a tanning salon.  We love tanning but we also love beautiful nails!

If you haven't gotten your nails done in a while, it's time you took some time for yourself.  You can schedule your manicure, pedicure or full set appointment on our website if you'd like.  

Here's a little information about fiberglass wraps. First, it's a thin fiberglass material that is placed on your nails after we apply a special nail adhesive.  It's very strong and flexible and looks totally natural.  There is very low odor and it's a nice alternative to the traditional acrylic nails.  

Our introductory price is $25 for a full set with tips or not. Our regular price is $40.  

My Incredible Testimony with Doterra Essential Oils

I had a very personal experience with one of their products that changed my friends life and impacted my belief in their products so much, I decided I had to tell as many people as I could about them. 

About a year and a half ago, a dear friend of mine who we had just met had a brain tumor that was growing.  She had already been suffering with it for a year prior to us meeting her and her husband. She was very ill. So ill that she could barely get out of bed during the day. She and her husband have 2 beautiful young children who needed her.  She tried everything and was actively seeing doctors, traveling to the Mayo clinic with no results, taking all kinds of medication and she was not well.

She's selling oils. Nice. But I knew nothing about them and wasn't interested in learning about them either. Now, I am a believer. So I gave her a bottle of Frankincense essential oil and she began rubbing some on her head and taking a couple of drops under her tongue daily.

Prior to her taking this frankincense oil, she had gotten several MRI's that had measured her tumor and she was scheduled to have another one 3 months from the first time she took the oil.  To my utter amazement, and to her and her husband as well, her tumor shrunk!..We knew this because the MRI showed new measuremets that it was in fact smaller. OK, so we were all excited but it wasn't gone although it did get smaller. She decided to keep taking it and 3 months later, another MRI was scheduled. We were so nervous about the results. Maybe it was just a fluke... but NO. Her tumor, in fact, shrunk again so much that the doctor was amazed too. She told him what she was using and he said keep doing it. There would be no more MRI"S scheduled for another year. 

Now, before I forget, I must tell you that we prayed for her healing. She had hundreds of people praying for her during this time period. I believe that God heard our prayers and led her to this incrdible oil that changed her life. So, Thank you Heavenly Father for answering our prayers.

I wish I could express to you the joy I had and I wasn't the one who was healed from a deadly tumor. This young Mom of 2 who thought she would die was now filled with hope for her future because this silly little oil did something to make her tumor stop growing and even shrink it.

We love this new website because you have the option of scheduling services directly from our website or facebook.  As we add new services in the Fall, like manicures and pedicures and waxing, this will make it more convenient for our clients to come in.

Expansion Of Services Coming!

Now that we've been here as the new owners for a little over 4 months now and summer is in high gear, we look forward with excitement for all the new we have planned for the fall.  This is technically our down time here in Sarasota.  Families vacationing away from our hot sun and snow birds also enjoying the less humid weather up north brings us our loyal customers who keep tanning through thick and thin, hot and cool, season and unseasoned.

All in all, I am enjoying myself getting to know our customers past the "hi, how are you's" and remembering each name and a little about them. Each person that walks in is a VIP with us.  Not just because they are our customers but because they are God's children.  I love that maybe I can encourage or give a laugh for a few minutes, or they can do the same for me.

With this we asked ourselves, should we add more services to our little tanning salon in Gulf Gate?  Yes, of course! Red light therapy, natural nail care, more spray tanning and really trendy retail items with an online store are just some of our future plans for expansion. Years ago, I owned 2 nail salons in Pennsylvania.  Adding nail services fits perfectly with tanning. Especially CND shellac nails that boast 2 weeks of chip free polish. Red light therapy is a whole other exciting topic, of which we will talk about in a separate post.

How Do Sunless Spray Tan Solutions work?

The main ingredient in sunless tanning products is C3H603 or DHA(dihydroxyacetone).  The colorless 3 carbon sugar is derived from sugarcane, sugar beets and the fermentation of glycerin. This binds with the first layer of skin. These dead skin cells do not reproduce but contain keratin which is responsible for skin coloration.

The DHA chemically reacts with the keratin in the skin cells resulting in darkening effect.  This effect is influenced by several factors such as skin type, thickness, ph levels, medication and dryness.  The type of product used will greatly influence consistency, hue, and intensity of the tan.

We use Norvell Sunless products because of the quality of the ingredients used in their products. Exfoliation prior to your spray tan service is very important to optimize this reaction and create the best tan for your skin.  Removing the loose and dead skin cells allows the product to be applied to the freshest layer of skin for even application and prolonging of the tan.

What causes "orange" looking spray tans? High PH levels in the skin will cause that dreaded orange effect.  Neutralizing the acidity or basicity of the skin by applying a XLa Tan ph balancing spray boosts amino acid levels and will maximize  your sunless coloir results.

If you properly prepare your skin by exfoliating and neutralizing the ph on the skin, your results will be maximized.  This is what I do for our clients and what makes the difference!

Hooter's Annual Swimsuit Contest Sarasota March 15, 2014

Fundraiser Events For Our Community

A very important part of our business is being able to give back to our community. Over the next year, we will be developing special fundraiser events for Selah Freedom and other non profit organizations in Sarasota.  Selah Freedom is a highly regarded, successful non profit organization based in Sarasota that assists victims of human trafficking.  Educating the general public about this horrible crime is a large part of what they do. I was very surprised to hear how prevalent sex trafficking is right here in Sarasota.

We wish to be a part of helping this organization in any way that we can.  Donating a portion of our sales monthly and planning specific fundraiser events to help raise money during certain times of the year are in our plans.

I love it!  We decided just now, my husband and I, that we are going to plan to offer Dollar Day tanning once a month on the first day of the month! That means that anyone who wants to tan on the first of the month can come in for a buck.

Our official name is now, Endless Summer Tan Sarasota, LLC. We have exciting plans for this tanning salon over the next year.  We are upgrading our point of sale system and software program to better serve our clients. Crunch Time!

So, we are one week away from opening and my head is spinning! Software, merchant accounts, business cards, marketing and the list goes on.  Exciting? Yes!  Nerve splitting? Absolutely!  Taking over an already successful tanning salon sounds pretty simple but really, I have no idea what will really happen on our first day.

It is our hope and plan to keep our customers coming back as well as creating a giant list of new ones along the way.  After all, that is what being in business is all about. Creating a "wow!" experience for each and every person that walks into our doors.  What makes us different? We are a family owned and operated business, not a large corporation running a business from afar with low paid employees.

Tanning salons in Florida?

Almost everyone I spoke to about our new tanning business said, "Why would anyone go to a tanning salon in Florida?"  Good question. I thought that too. Obviously, these people who I spoke to are all my relatives who are from up north. But think about it...Floridians live in outdoor friendly weather all year long. Not like the northerners who spend most of their time indoors for a majority of the year. If they go out, they are covered from head to toe!

If you live in Florida, you can wear shorts, tank tops, and sandals all year.You are outdoors for so many activities.   That means, your skin is exposed. Many people would like to have some color on that exposed skin. Going to a tanning salon to control your sun exposure, and get a nice tan is not a bad idea.

My name is Eileen and I live in Sarasota, Florida.  My husband and I have been here for a year now and absolutely love it! Coming from up north in PA and NY my whole life, living here in sunny, warm weather year round is soothing.  I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I get to work in my flip flops all year round. Dining out with my family in February is a delight!  We spent Christmas afternoon at the beach. This is heaven. One thing I do not like about Florida is the job offering.  Yes, there are plenty of jobs but mostly low paying and with no real security. Maybe that is the way it is everywhere these days. So, we decided to take our destiny into our own hands and work for ourselves.

That is where Endless Summer Tan Sarasota comes in.  After living for months living on the edge wondering if my husband would be fired for no apparent reason, or the fact that I couldn't find a decent paying full time job, we took the plunge and bought this beautiful little tanning salon.  We plan to take over the business in just a couple of weeks. My job is to market and promote it.

I've owned several businesses over the years so I understand what goes into running a business on a day to day basis.  We are excited to breathe our life into it and hopefully build some great new relationships with our clients and future clients.

Our mission:  To provide a spotless clean, friendly tanning experience with knowledgeable staff. To offer traditional tanning beds and customized spray tanning that is safe and affordable.  We want our customers to think immediately, "wow, friendly people, good service and I want to come back!"

We are real people who have a real desire to make our customers happy. To create a neighborhood salon feeling where the owners are approachable and available.  We are not a large, cold corporation just wanting to hire employees cheap to bring in the bucks. We believe when you treat people right, do things with integrity and excellence, the business will come.
